Alarm Clock Mount for Dorm Room Bedpost

I needed a convenient place for my alarm clock since we had lofted beds in our dorm room.

Problem

I lived in a dorm during my freshman year and slept on an upper bunk. My alarm clock sat on my desk so that when it went off, I had to get out of bed to silence it; otherwise, I would have turned it off in my sleep and missed all of my classes. However, when the alarm clock sounded, it took too long for me to climb down and silence it. My roommate, who was on a different sleep schedule than me, was awakened early every morning and was not happy about it.

Solution

I designed a custom alarm clock mount for the foot of my bed using SolidWorks and Fusion 360. I designed this mount twice using two different platforms because I was not as familiar with SolidWorks as Fusion 360 and saw it as a way to learn. The custom mount securely fit over the bedpost and held my alarm clock. With the alarm clock at the foot of my bed, I still had to move around to silence it but did not wake my roommate.
