Hyundai Soapbox Racer Project
In my Applied CAD and Geometric Controls class, we were tasked with modeling each part of the Hyundai Soapbox Racer Car
problem
During the pandemic, Hyundai released plans to create a soapbox racer car. The project was designed to be a fun, simple project for families. In my Applied CAD and Geometric Controls class, we were tasked with modeling each part of the car and then fastening the parts in an assembly using SolidWorks’ Smart Fasteners function.

Solution
Using the provided documents, I first modeled the vehicle chassis parts and then put them into an assembly. After that, I modeled the rest of the car including the frame, wheels, and steering bars. I then combined everything into an assembly and used Smart Fasteners to attach everything together.

problem encountered
Unfortunately, the dimensions and assembly instructions were not always accurate and lacked much of the needed information. This made the project significantly more difficult and required a great deal of intuition to piece everything together. Despite these setbacks, I was able to accurately model the car.
